We’re excited to announce that Buildanauts will release tomorrow, May 4th on Steam Early Access. Check out our Store page here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/394490/Buildanauts/
Here’s a little press update to show our appreciation for the coverage thus far on Buildanauts despite not having a build out yet! With that said, we’ll have a pre-alpha test out mid-December of this year. It won’t be feature-complete at that time, but we think it will still be fun to play in its state. In addition to this news, our Greenlight is at about 35% of the way and we now have a pre-order Humble widget on our site.

Buildanauts™ is definitely a niche game but that’s ok because we’ve accepted the challenge. It’s our first flagship title in development over at TouchTilt Games, based in Halifax, N.S., Canada, which is an open-world construction simulator for anyone to play. You can jump out of your trailer after you’ve customized your persona and immediately start building stuff – roads, sidewalks, traffic flow, residential and commercial residents, place town objects, dig and then manage the townsfolk you attract.
If our team had to compare titles and use a metaphor, take Simcity, The Sims, Animal Crossing, Metropolismania and GTA and bundle them all up into a snowball, (because winter is coming) then roll it down the hill; Will that snowball get bigger and gain momentum – well we’re certainly giving it our best effort!
The feedback we’ve received thus far has been very positive for Buildanauts as we close in on 500 Yes votes on Greenlight in 24 hours. With that said, when ‘Bob The Builder’ and ‘Grand Theft Auto’ have a Buildanauts baby, some folks start getting a little confused. But it’s ok! Buildanauts just works and it’s a lot of fun. You’ll get an opportunity to try it when we release our Alpha to select-press and Kickstarter backers come this December – and when we’re Greenlit in Early Access. Additionally, we’ll be doing live-play streams on Twitch starting this Friday and every Friday if you’re curious.
In this competitive industry, breaking into any genre can be tough, but we feel there’s more of a challenge for us because TouchTilt is taking cute, cartoony, graphics and coupling that with somewhat sophisticated gameplay such as: designing houses with our proprietary design tools, building roads, sidewalks, managing your townsfolk and operating construction trucks – somewhat like a simulator.
We hope you’ll come and check out our title currently in pre-alpha, with an alpha release coming this December. Followed by a Beta late Q1 2015 and finally a Gold Master early Q2.
We’re very excited to announce that the Buildanauts Kickstarter and Greenlight are now live! We’ve been working pretty hard on the development of Buildanauts and we hope that the early, pre-alpha trailer demonstrates this. We hope you’ll support us or just drop us a line for some feedback as we progress.
Here’s a few awesome GIF’s of Buildanauts in action, currently in pre-alpha stage. Buildanauts is coming along quite well and we hope to have the first (pre-alpha) trailer up later this week. Before the end of the month we hope to launch on Kickstarter and Greenlight.
It’s super easy to create intersections in Buildanauts.
We have a few animations in place already for Buildanauts such as – walking, running and some animations with tools. But now we’re finally getting into completing the rest. Today we finished the jump animation which has 3 states: Jump up, Hover and Land so that we can blend them depending on how high you jump or if you’re falling for a certain amount of time.
Hello! This is an early look at structure design in Buildanauts. Once we reach Alpha-state, you’ll be able to design a house (in design mode) with walls, windows, doors, awnings and all the trimmings. Then when you’re happy with the design you’ve created, you will enter Construction Mode where your workers will build the design for you.
Here’s a nice little animated GIF of some of the exploring in Buildanauts that I put together today. This GIF will be incorporated into the new Kickstarter campaign coming up in just a few weeks time! Additionally we’re preparing to move to Steam Greenlight for a pre-alpha release.
Hello! We just wanted to share an early screenshot of our work on Buildanauts and where we’re at in development. This is a rather large screenshot so it could be used as wallpaper if you so desired. Additionally we want to mention we’ll be launching a new Kickstarter for Buldanauts in just a few weeks time! We’ll also move over to Greenlight from the Concepts section. Exciting times!
Currently here’s a few of the features we’re working on:
- Terrain adding (filling in) and subtracting (digging)
- Truck mechanics
- Terrain plotting with a laser level. This is to mark out the area for which you want to build
- Character mechanics
- Build mode enhancements
- + much more.
